Day 11 — Is God Bigger Than My Problems?
Stacey Ammann Psalm 147:3-5 NLT He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. 4He counts the stars and calls them all by name. How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension! Job 37:5-7 NLT God’s voice is glorious in the thunder. We can’t even imagine the greatness of his power. “He directs the snow to fall on the earth and tells the rain to pour down. Then everyone stops working so they can watch his power. Matthew 19:26 NLT Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” When the struggles of life come, and yes, they will come, the need is even greater to seek and rely on truth. Truth can be difficult to uncover in the chaos of the world today, but God’s promises (did you read the passages above?) are always true. To remind ourselves that God is greater than anything that comes our way is essential. Praise him for WHO HE IS. Allow yourself to be overwhelmed by his greatness instead of being overtaken by problems that threaten all around. “But with God, everything is possible.” And beware - the promises of God can lose their power when we allow God himself to become small in our own eyes. I speak from experience -- when God somehow becomes smaller than the size of my problems, a spirit of chaos weighs me down and confusion slips right in. When I surrender to God and make Him #1, the difficulties work together for my good and I end up renewed and filled with greater faith. It even soothes my soul! I mean, “He heals the brokenhearted…” our broken hearts. He parted the Red Sea, and is still making a way through. Oh, and in case you missed it, “He directs the snow to fall… and tells the rain to pour down.” “He counts the stars and calls them all by name.” In everything -- to God be the glory. REFLECTION · Do you believe that everything is possible with God? Do you trust him? · Are you willing to surrender all that may not be good in your life? · Which of these passages resonates most in your heart?
